Hubert Motte

As part of the blog "Conscious People" by Venitz, we interview the actors of the green transition to find out more about the behind their commitments. Today, here is the story of Hubert Motte.

Hello everyone, I am Hubert Motte, founder of La vie est Belt.

Today, I dedicate a large part of my daily life to optimistic action to move the lines! In concrete terms, this manifests itself in the revaluation of materials (tires, ropes, fire hoses, sheets) into everyday products (belts, underwear). Manufacturing is united in Tourcoing and Roubaix.

My commitment to meaning, I owe it to a trigger during my first work-study professional experience. I was a product engineer at Décathlon. I really loved my job but wasn't proud of its impact.
I then launched La vie est Belt, in Lille, from my student roommate: locally repurposing used bicycle tires into belts.

The way I perceive the world around me and the way I interact with others has been strongly influenced by the encounters I have made and the adventures I have undertaken while cycling and hitchhiking.

What excites me today is realizing that La vie est Belt has a positive impact on the lives of those who work there. Christophe, the first operator on the belts, made the front page of NordEclair, he was interviewed in the morning show RTL, he is recognized in his neighborhood for what he does. But also the adventure seems to impact the lives of those who follow it. I remember a message one day from someone who said "Thank you. You prove to us that it is possible to use common sense. You have inspired me and I am also going to quit my job to join a project sensible!”

    Everything is possible.
Let's be true to that and stay active and optimistic.
    Life is Belt!
    Hubert
