Melanie Lily

Hello everyone, I am Mélanie Lily,
I am a content creator on Instagram.
I trained as a florist and landscaper.

Today, I dedicate a large part of my daily life to the green lifestyle, eco-responsible interior decoration, plants and I am also an illustrator.

I owe my eco-responsible commitment to a trigger, an awareness: It was a family move that made me aware of the ultra-consumer world in which we live. We sorted through objects accumulated over a little over two decades and it made me realize that I was reproducing the same thing in my Parisian studio. One thing led to another and I became interested in many subjects related to ecology.

In this sense, I support a local association of social links in which we organize a whole bunch of events and ecological awareness activities but not only that!

The way I perceive the world around me and how I interact with others has been heavily influenced by the upbringing my parents gave me. I was made aware of climate and social justice issues at a very young age.

Since we are focusing on Ireland, let me tell you an anecdote: A motorway project had been planned between Galway and Limerick but in the meantime, voices were raised because the route of the motorway passed over a magical tree, more precisely a hawthorn where, it seems, local fairies meet before each battle. They won their case by arguing that if the tree was cut down, the fairies would take revenge on the motorists. The highway route was moved and the tree spared. Although we are not necessarily all sensitive to these superstitions, the simple fact that a tree was spared, I find it beautiful!

I like to think that the desire to support noble causes is contagious. So if I had to give advice to those who haven't yet taken the plunge: Cook in larger quantities to have something to eat for lunch at work rather than always ordering from outside. I have inspired many colleagues with my lunch boxes like this!

However, adopting a more ethical and responsible lifestyle is not a linear process; I myself have to make almost all my trips by car given that I live in the countryside, I sometimes drink Coca-Cola and I use a smartphone every day, the use of data is ultra polluting despite the The “dematerialized” argument that we are given. So, you might as well laugh about it: lightness above all!”
